17 Lancashire Schools Sign Up To New Security Provision

KeyPlus, the Lancashire patrol and response security company have announced a new contract award which will see them provide security services to 17 Lancashire Schools and Children’s Nurseries.

Schools and Nurseries are regularly targeted by thieves and vandals, costing the counties education authorities and schools hundreds of thousands of pounds every year. In particular, older educational buildings often find themselves victim of lead theft whilst other petty crimes such as smashed windows, graffiti and damage to outdoor playing areas are leaving teachers and children devastated.

The contract award sees KeyPlus providing a range of security services including management of alarm response, key holding and emergency contractor services.

KeyPlus Managing Director Brian Curran explained “Schools and Nurseries have experienced hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage from mindless and targeted vandalism outside of school operating hours”.

“We already provide security services to a number of educational properties including special schools, secondary, primary and colleges. Our knowledge, experience and quick response service were key considerations in evaluating KeyPlus as the best-fit for this contract, as we can educate schools on preventative measures and provide assistance in worse case scenarios”.

Night time call outs put Teachers and Staff at risk

As with many properties, it’s common for schools and nurseries to be targeted outside working hours and especially at night. One of the services KeyPlus will be providing removes the danger and pressure of teachers and staff attending an alarm response.

Brian explained… “For anyone to receive a phone call during the night, telling them a property alarm has been triggered can be a bit of an ordeal. Whilst it is highly inconvenient, there are great dangers associated with attending a property alarm, especially in the dark”.

“An alarm could be triggered by an electrical fault, failing objects, or an intruder so to send a vulnerable, untrained member of staff to investigate is a huge health and safety issue”.

“Using an SIA Approved Contractor like KeyPlus means we remove that risk, providing highly trained and accredited response teams that can tackle most situations”.

KeyPlus will also be providing Key Holding and post event Risk Management support, such as isolation of critical areas, utility supplies and securing properties in order to minimise risk of further damage.
